The Division of Environmental Economics was formed in 1999 (formly the Division of Resource and Environmental Economics) as a result of changes to newly established Chinese Academy of land and Resource Economics(CALRE for short) in 1999(formly Chinese Academy of Geological and Mineral Economics(CAGAME),   the division is responsible, through the chief executive officer, Hu-xiaoping, Yuan-guohua, Yu-zhenguo to CALRE. The division has a staff of about 8 people, it also well equiped with computers, printers, plotters and other devices as well as related softwares (Mapinfo, MapGis, Graphtool, windows series).

The value of the DEE to the CALRE rests on it ability to carry out studies on different areas related geology we have mentioned. It is well know that Geological hazards are an ever-present national concern, and  these  hazards take many forms as well as wide distribution and extensive  influence, from landslide to debris  flow, from  ground fissure to land collapse, from soil erosion to land  desertification.  So, as research division , we  have obligation for our country to provide the science needed to reduce the loss of life and property they can cause.  We are embarking on an exciting future, by  providing and implementing consulting services   for decision-maker. We are pleased to be the research agency for The CALRE,we look forward to expanding this role in 21st century.
